Thesis Title: The Social Origins of Alliances: Uneven and Combined Development and the case of Jordan 1955-7
About
My research interests lie in the intersection of Historical Sociology, International Relations theory and Political Economy. I am particularly interested in the application of Leon Trotsky’s concept of uneven and combined development to those fields. I received my PhD with no corrections on the 9th of March 2012. My thesis focused on uneven and combined development as an explanation for the geopolitical alignments of the Jordanian Hashemite regime during the high tide of Arab nationalism in the 1950s.
I am currently research fellow on the project 'Mapping the Social Sciences in Jordan' at the British Institute in Amman. I am also one of the co-ordinators of a newly funded research network on 'Emancipatory Politics in the Arab World in an Era of Revolutions.'
